What an unprecedented year it has been!! The horrible bushfire season of 2019/2020 seems like so long ago, yet unbelievable loss and suffering of many part of the country and communities are so deep that the garden’s dry spell seemed like nothing at all.
Then the Covid-19 hit and our daily lives changed as never seen before. At our garden each volunteer also had to work within changing rules and restrictions since March. Although the situation has been difficult for a community group like ours, everyone wanted to be part of the group more than ever as community gardening provided relaxing and meaningful activity each of us was looking forward to engaging on the weekend and weekdays as well.
I am so glad that we have been able to continue working as a harmonious group throughout the year and to be able to form wonderful friendship than ever.
So far this summer has seen much more rain than last year and our garden is definitely greener. We are currently enjoying a lot of ripening tomatoes and cucumbers, yet humidity is challenging for the crops. Climbing beans, corns and sunflowers are also growing taller and taller.
Thank you for your support and understanding our community garden has received from our wonderful volunteers, local community and North Sydney Council.
Please note during the festive season the garden gates will be temporarily closed for security reasons from Tuesday evening 29th December and reopens Saturday morning 2nd January 2021 unless attended by volunteers.
There will be our Sunday working bee on Sunday 27th December and 3rd January if you are around.
Wishing you all safe and wonderful Christmas holidays and a happy healthy New Year!
Cheers.
